Welcome
'Biointerface@CUED', is driven by bioengineering research, focusing on 3D bioprinting and biofabrication for sustainability and health.
Research themes include (i) sustainably augmented living matters; (ii) organ-on-a-chip and tissue engineering; (iii) intertwining 3D printing and AI for affordable and ethical health and clinical informatics.
Our research is highly multi-disciplinary in nature, crossing fields of system engineering, biology, chemistry, polymer physics and computer science. We aim to develop new tools and methodologies for engineering biology, and exploring a new generation of tissue engineering constructs for personalised therapy, at affordable costs; and to provide new solutions for disease monitoring, animal-free drug testing, and better patient healthcare. Some of our research areas include:
- Multiscale biofabrication
- 3D bioprinting
- Organ models
- Tissue engineering; System engineering biology
- Fibre network bioelectronics and sensors
- Fiber-of-Things (FoT)
Biointerface @ CUED People
The 'Biointerface' research group consists of researchers of different backgrounds, from engineering to biochemistry. Our research goal is to explore a new generation of tissue engineering constructs for personalised therapy, at affordable costs; and to provide new solutions for disease monitoring, drug testing, and better patient healthcare.
